San Andrés prepares to receive the tropical cyclone

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported that there is a tropical storm alert for Colombia due to 'Potential Cyclone Two', which continues its movement towards the western Caribbean, crossing the La Guajira peninsula to the west towards the San Andrés Archipelago.


The entity explained that the probability that this natural phenomenon will increase in intensity and rise in category is 80 percent in the next 48 hours and 90 percent in the next five days. In addition, according to the forecast cone, the estimated probability is that the system evolves into the Tropical Storm category, reported Ideam. 




The system is moving west-northwest at a speed of approximately 48 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour.

It is estimated that the height of the waves in the passage of this system through San Andrés and Providencia can reach up to five meters and that the strongest winds in the archipelago occur between Thursday night and throughout Friday and Saturday.
